COMMENTARY The 2017 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon is bright, elegant, and bursting with lively fruit. TASTING NOTES: This wine comes to the fore with persistent aromas and flavors of loganberries, red currants, and shadings of oak. Pair it with grilled lamb chops topped with fresh mint leaves. Cherry, raspberry, and dried herb aromas laced with hints of vanilla and tobacco. The palate has a charming weight and velvety texture filled with intense flavors of black cherries and blackberries, all elevated by a lovely backbone of spice notes from extended aging in French oak barrels. Blackberries and hints of dried herbs linger through the long, spice-kissed finish.
The dark fruit flavors, silky palate, and structure make it a lovely wine for food pairing. This wines elegance, acidity and spice notes complement grilled or roasted dishes, such as herb-crusted lamb, roasted chicken or grilled pork loin. The wines earthiness even complements vegetarian dishes, such as mushroom risotto, ratatouille or roasted root vegetables.-Winemaker Notes

Jordan wines are made in a more European style that allows them to pair well with a broad range of foods. Winemaking decisions emphasize the wines fruit and acidity rather than alcohol and tannin, and achieving elegance and balance in the bottle drives all that Jordan does in the vineyards and cellar. More than three-quarters of the 1,200 acres that surround the Jordan Winery Chateau remain wild, open spaces that myriad animals and plants call home. Preserving natural habitat and conserving resources are two tenets in sustainability efforts. The winery runs almost entirely on solar energy, and the vineyards and winery are certified sustainable.
As one of Californias iconic producers of classic Cabernet Sauvignon, John Jordan believes that the success should be used for a greater good beyond the glass. Since 2012, a large portion of the profits from Jordan Winery fund The John Jordan Foundation, which works to fight the negative effects of poverty in communities through education and health services.-Winery Notes
About Jordan Vineyards
Founders Tom and Sally Jordan were maverick pioneers with a unique vision. They wanted to be the first to create a Bordeaux-style California Cabernet Sauvignon that was approachable while young yet aged gracefully. Located in Sonoma's Alexander Valley, the home for their wine would be an extraordinary chateau combining winemaking facilities, guest suites, and kitchen and dining areas under one roof. The couple set a standard for American wine quality and wine country hospitality--a top standard that is still held at Jordan today.

Under the guidance of second-generation vintner John Jordan and Rob Davis, the winemaker whose hands have crafted every vintage of Jordan since the inaugural 1976, Jordan Vineyard & Winery continues to innovate and elevate through award-winning wines and hospitality.
