"More raspberries, floral notes, herbs and underbrush appear in the more complex, still not bottled 2014 Pinot Noir Freestone Vineyard. This is a delicious wine, where some whole clusters were used, giving the wine an earthy underbrush note, but the raspberry fruit is obvious and jumps from the glass. This should drink nicely in its first 5-7 years of life."-WA

"The 2014 Pinot Noir Freestone Vineyards is a good introduction to the Joseph Phelps Pinots. There is plenty of the trademark intensity readers will find in the vineyard designates, but with a bit more perfume and more approachable structure, all of which make the 2014 a strong choice for drinking over the next few years. Shades of dark red/purplish fruit and sweet floral notes continue to open up effortlessly over time. The 2014 could very well turn out to be an overachiever."-AG

"Joseph Phelps Vineyards is a family-owned winery committed to crafting world class, estate-grown wines. Founded in 1973 when Joe Phelps purchased a former cattle ranch near St. Helena in the Napa Valley, the winery now controls and farms nearly 375 acres of vines on eight estate vineyards in St. Helena, the Stags Leap District, Oakville, Rutherford, Oak Knoll District, Carneros and South Napa Valley.
