“A field blend that is co-fermented and has a distinctive blue-flower and blue-fruit nose (mourvedre) as well as wild herbs, red berries and a potpourri of wood and spice. The palate is quite concentrated and firm, delivering a ripe array of long-form tannin that holds beyond expectations. Blend of mourvedre, syrah, grenache, counoise, cinsault, picpoul and grenache blanc. Will drink well for over a decade..”

Blend
42% Mourvédre, 28% Syrah, 16% Grenache, 4% Counoise, 4% Cinsault, 3% Picpoul, 3% Grenache Blanc

Vineyard
The vineyards we work with are farmed using the most up to date sustainable practices.

Powerline Vineyard (44%): A 30-acre estate vineyard, located over 1200 feet elevation. Powerline Vineyard was planted in 2012 in the foothills of the Blue Mountains, just south of Walla Walla in the Walla Walla Valley AVA. The soils are well drained with cobblestone river rocks and underlying layers of sand and gravel deposits, allowing vines to develop very deep and strong roots.

Rockgarden Vineyard (42%): Planted in 2006, in the cobblestones of the rocks in Walla Walla and Freewater with very cobble loam soil. With high density planting at six by four feet, both Phelps and Tablas Creek clones are planted in the ten-acre site. This is a beautiful spot that produces very distinctive wines.

River Rock Vineyard (14%): Owned and farmed by Dana Dibble, planted in 2001. The site is located south of Walla Walla in the old Walla Walla River bed; the soil is rocky and with great drainage. The clone of Syrah sourced is Tablas Creek, which thrives in the big river stone cobble. This is the warmest site in the Walla Walla Valley.

Vintage
The 2015 harvest was the warmest vintage in recorded history, with fantastic viticulture and a great extended harvest. Because of this, we were able to make some of the most incredible wines to date. The vintage was dry and long with an early bud break and late harvest that had cool evenings to guarantee incredible quality. The 2015 wines have big complex flavors, good acidity and great balance.

K Vintners WineryLocated at the base of the Blue Mountains in Walla Walla (Washington State), Charles Smith opened his first winery, K Vintners, in December of 2001. The first release, 1999 K Syrah from Walla Walla Valley, initiated the style of winemaking that Charles continues today: small lots of single vineyard Syrahs and field blends of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Tempranillo, and Viognier, all of which are hand-picked, fermented with naturally occurring yeasts and basket pressed.
