Wine Spectator 91 TOP 100 2010 Rank 100
"Dark and alluring, with mulled black currant, Turkish coffee, bittersweet cocoa and licorice snap notes framed by solid structure. Shows roasted notes, but stays polished and focused on the grippy finish. Drink now through 2012."

Where the big guns roar
Kanonkop derives its name from the "kopje" (hill) from which a cannon was fired to alert surrounding farmers of trading ships stopping in Cape Town. This was some 300 years ago, but the farm continues to reverberate with the sounds of success achieved through their award-winning wines. Fourth generation estate proprietors, Johann and Paul Krige, have one simple aim: to maintain their "First Growth" status. And with wines such as their famous Pinotage and Paul Sauer consistently being recognized as some of the best reds on the market, their acclaim is well deserved.
