"The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino is flashy, open and totally seductive. Tobacco, smoke, licorice and crushed flowers are some of the notes that are woven together in this supple, juicy Brunello. The Colombina’s Brunelli are typically accessible when young, but the 2007 is particularly harmonious and flat-out delicious. This isn’t the most complex or structured Brunello readers will come across, but it is among the most tasty. " ~ AG

"5 stars. Upfront aromas of ink, graphite and cedar, with hints of sour plum. Concentrated palate with lean tannins and nervy acidity (Richard Baudains); Firm cedary fruit on nose and palate. Elegant wine with depth and well-integrated tannins (Rosemary George MW); Classy, beautiful expression of Sangiovese. Layered nose of dried fruit and pot-pourri. A lush palate gushes with bags of fruit and a perfect balance of tannins and acidity. Maturing red is rich in complexity (Jane Hunt MW). Drink 2012-2020. Alc: 14.5%. (18.5 points/20 points)"

"Bright medium-dark red. Sexy aromas of raspberry, tobacco, dried rose and underbrush. Silky and seamless in the mouth, with nicely concentrated, seductively sweet red fruit flavors. Finishes with firm but suave tannins and very good length. A very fruity, juicy style of Brunello, and an essence of the essentially gentle, fruit-driven 2007 vintage. - Tanzer (July 2012)"

" La Colombina, which borders both the Ciacci estate and the Uccelliera estate in the warm southeastern Castelnuovo dell'Abate district of Montalcino, has been in the Caselli family for generations. The superior location of the estate is immediately evident in the ripe, powerful fruit on the nose, with an underlying intensity and weight that is typical of Castelnuovo dell'Abate, making wines such as those of Ciacci and Uccelliera so compelling and long-lived.
