Item Description
Caz translates to crazy in a good way, a sentiment I have come to embrace as I branch out from Bordeaux, bringing you wines from new terroirs. I have been driving through this area for years on my back and forths between St Emilion and Falset. Plot the points between these two places on any map and you can see that I regularly get lost. On purpose, I admit. Crazy as it seems, thats sometimes how I find new things to do. I can go in any direction, so long as there are good people to work with when I get there.

Recently, at a lunch table with friends, we tasted this wine it was bright, fun, and completely refreshing. The wine totally complimented the food and good, honest farmers grew the grapes. The Grenache Blanc and Roussanne in this blend hail from the tippy-toes of the Southwestern Rhne Valley where the attitude and exposition are truly Mediterranean. The juice is fermented in steel with natural yeast and the wine is left unoaked. I love this wine.

They live longer down here for a reason. Many people tell the story of falling in love with a wine they had on vacation, and I know exactly what theyre talking about... its the moment you taste it: with great friends, alongside great food and no clock ticking. A bit about 2019: A dry and cool start to the Spring (so dry in fact, there was less than 7 of rain the first 10 months of the year.). Yields were down just slightly overall but only about 10 from 2018. Harvest of the Maz Caz Blanc varietals Roussanne and Grenache Blanc began on August 26th and were brought in at full speed to maintain the natural acidity and aromatic freshness. Grapes were pressed and the juice was transferred to stainless steel tanks where it fermented on the natural yeast. Im very proud of this wine. We have a bottle open every day (in 2020, some days a little earlier in the day than others, which is 100 Covids fault). And I love the label, which is a watercolor painting of an oyster that my best friend Sarah Dietschi created for me. She based it on her own perception of what this wine invokes: sitting outside in the sunshine eating shellfish and enjoying non-socially distant normalcy. I hope you like it as much as I do!
