"The 2021 Etna Bianco opens with cascading floral tones and crushed stone giving way to sweet peach. It’s soft and enveloping, with a bolt of green citrus and riveting acidity that quickly builds tension. This leaves the palate completely refreshed and with a salty concentration. This zesty and mineral-packed Etna Bianco really plays with the palate.

The Wine
70 Carricante and 30 Catarratto Bianco fermented and aged in stainless steel to preserve the crisp acidity and juicy freshness a proper Etna Bianco must have. The high acid of Caricante is balanced by the softness of texture of the Catarratto, yielding a gorgeously pristine and elegant Bianco. 4,000 cases produced.

The Estate
The Scammacca del Murgo family is one of the few winemaking families who can claim long, deep Etna roots; longer than even some of the older Nerello Mascalese vines! For more than 100 years this family has cared for olive and fruit trees, crafted fine olive oils and jams, and nurtured Etnas native grape, Nerello Mascalese, under the Etnas looming shadow. Yet its only been since 1980 that the family decided to bottle their own wines. And its no small family: the Scammacca del Murgo clan extends over three generations, and the current generation (eight children!) are all involved in both preserving, and triumphing, the endless beauty of Nerello Mascalese on Etna!
