"So ripe that it tastes sweet, this full-bodied but soft-textured wine oozes blueberry and strawberry flavors that coat the palate. There is very little tannin and an almost sugary finish."
" Our Old Soul Old Vine Zinfandel is harvested from our estate owned vineyards, old vines that naturally lend themselves to producing dense raspberry, blackberry and cherry aromas and flavors that are accented by lush chocolate and vanilla notes. The palate is luscious and round with a silky mouth-feel and a long, enticing finish.
The grapes from our Old Sould Old Vine Zinfandel are predominantly sourced from vines aged between 50 and 75 years with some of the vines approaching 100 years old. These vines produce the complex, concentrated grapes that Lodi has become renowned for. Once harvested, the grapes are transferred to tanks where they are warmly fermented to extract as much color and varietal character as possible. Once the fermentation approaches dryness, the grapes are pressed and put through a second fermentation, "malo-lactic fermentation", to soften the wine and give it the plush mouth-feel characteristic of Old Soul wines. Finally, the wine is matched with an aggressive oak program to compliment its volumptious fruit with rich chocolate and vanilla notes. " ~ Winery notes
Oak Ridge WineryView all from Oak Ridge Winery
Oak Ridge Winery is the oldest operating winery in Lodi, California, built in 1934. It is owned by the Maggio & Reynolds families, and produces estate wines under several separate wine labels. The winery itself was once a wine-making cooperative, which the Maggio and Reynolds families purchased in 2002. They had a vision that went well beyond dusting off a piece of local history. They renamed it
Oak Ridge Winery and began by modernizing the facilities, transforming it into a state-of-the-art winery.
The wines are made from 7,500 acres of estate vineyards throughout the Lodi American Viticultural Area (AVA). The winery and vineyards are situated between the Sierra Nevada foothills and the San Francisco Bay.
The area's uniquely Mediterranean climate, with warm days and coastal evening breezes, is ideal for the cultivation of world-class wine grapes. California's top varietals thrive here, with zinfandel being a singular phenomenon. Vines, some over 100 years old, produce small yields of intensely flavored fruit to create wines that are the ultimate expression of the terroir.
In 2002, the families began an extensive and comprehensive renovation that transformed Oak Ridge Winery into a state-of-the-industry facility, capable of meeting the quality, style, and volume demands of a growing and evolving global marketplace.
But the company is more than just bricks, mortar, tanks and barrels. They have assembled a team of passionate, committed industry professionals with the knowledge and experience to create wonderful wines from vineyard to bottle, from winery to table. Our goal is to over-deliver every step of the way.
Today the winery produces several brands in addition to Oak Ridge Winery, including OZV, Old Soul, 3 Girls, Maggio, Moss Roxx, and Lodi Estates.
