"O'Shaughnessy's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is one of the very best values readers will find in top-notch Napa Valley Cabernet. A host of dark red cherry, plum, mocha, spice, leather and tobacco give the 2014 a good deal of aromatic complexity to balance the natural richness of the year. Unlike the single-vineyard Cabernets, the Napa Valley bottling will drink well pretty much upon release. This is an absolutely impeccable Cabernet Sauvignon from O'Shaughnessy and winemaker Sean Capiaux. -- Antonio Galloni"

"Her 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon comes 56% from her holdings on Mt. Veeder and 44% from the home vineyard on Howell Mountain. It is a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Malbec and the rest Merlot and Petit Verdot. This is another beauty, with a deep blue/purple color and notes of blueberry, blackberry, licorice, charcoal and a touch of graphite. It is full-bodied, nicely layered, with velvety tannin and 2014's signature up-front, irresistible fruit, charm and overall balance, but without compromising intensity and length. Drink it over the next 15+ years."

In 1996 after years of searching, Betty O'Shaughnessy Woolls and Paul Woolls began what today is known as the O'Shaughnessy Estate Winery. This event was solidified by the acquisition of land in Howell Mountain, Mt. Veeder and Oakville. Today these seasoned vineyards yield quality fruit that reflects the effort of the O'Shaughnessy team; a process beginning in the mid-nineties resulting with their first bottling in 2002. Winemaker Sean Capiaux crafts wines in a nuevo style, classic wines with modern implements, specializing in Cabernet Sauvignon with supportive roles played by other Bordeaux varieties; Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Malbec, Carmenere, St. Macaire, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. From inception, the process of meticulous clonal selection and site location has resulted in rich, complex wines that will continue to evolve for many years to come.
