"Lastly, the 2015 Lirac Plateau des Chenes is the same Grenache-Syrah blend as the 2016, yet offers more Syrah character in its dark fruits, peppery herbs, and earthy/meaty aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, ripe and beautifully textured, it offers a serious mouthful of fruit and is highly recommended. It should keep for 7-8 years."~J.D.

"Offers a fleshy feel, with dark plum and raspberry coulis flavors racing along, lined with subtle graphite and black tea notes. Shows a dusting of cocoa at the very end. Solid. Drink now through 2021. 1,000 cases imported."~J.M.

Wine Advocate 90
"The 2015 Lirac Plateau des Chnes is a modern, somewhat oaky example of the appellation, but it does combine wonderfully pure cherry fruit with vanilla and cedar, leaving some woody tannins in its wake. Drink this medium to full-bodied blend of Grenache (75) and Syrah (25) over the next 5-8 years."~J.C.
About Famille Brechet Lirac Plateau des Chenes
Just across the river from Chateauneuf-du-Pape is Lirac; its proximity and analogous terroir are why so many vigneron make wines in both appellations. They nearly share soil, seeing as the two are only separated by several kilometers and the Rhône. Lirac is still unknown as a cru, but it represents one of the up and coming terroirs of tomorrow.

Last of the Bréchet family estates, Le Plateau des Chênes is comprised of 16 hectares and located in the best terroirs of the appellation Lirac. The vineyard and winemaking is driven by Chateau de Vaudieu's team, led by Laurent Bréchet, and the grapes are vinified in cellars in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Plateau de Chênes is the eponymous name of a former bed of the Rhone river, composed by colluvions from the quaternary era, red clays, sands of the Pliocene and quartzites round pebbles.
