"A wine that always seems to deliver, the 2016 Lirac Plateau des Chnes boasts a medium ruby color to go with terrific notes of red fruits (strawberries, cherries), flowers, ample spice, and subtle minerality. Possessing medium to full-bodied richness, a silky, elegant mouthfeel, and beautiful balance, its a no-brainer purchase from this estate thats going to drink nicely for at least 5-7 years."~J.D.

Just across the river from Chateauneuf-du-Pape is Lirac; its proximity and analogous terroir are why so many vigneron make wines in both appellations. They nearly share soil, seeing as the two are only separated by several kilometers and the Rhône. Lirac is still unknown as a cru, but it represents one of the up and coming terroirs of tomorrow.
Last of the Bréchet family estates, Le Plateau des Chênes is comprised of 16 hectares and located in the best terroirs of the appellation Lirac. The vineyard and winemaking is driven by Chateau de Vaudieu's team, led by Laurent Bréchet, and the grapes are vinified in cellars in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Plateau de Chênes is the eponymous name of a former bed of the Rhone river, composed by colluvions from the quaternary era, red clays, sands of the Pliocene and quartzites round pebbles.
