"Combining Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere and Merlot from Apalta with 15% Petit Verdot from Marchigue, this is a plush ripe, textured red blend showing plum, mint and pastille fruit, subtle scented oak and some stony reduction."-TA
This organic, Bordeaux-inspired blend (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Carmenre) showcases an extravagant red fruit character. Enticing raspberry, cherry and liquorice aromas give way to a medium-bodied, layered palate of savory spice, textured tannins, well-integrated oak and focused berry fruit.-DM
"The 2017 Primus is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Carmnre, 10% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot, 5% Syrah, and 5% Cabernet Franc from Apalta, Colchagua Valley, aged for 12 months in French foudres and barrels. Garnet red in the glass with an orange shimmer. The layered nose features kirsch, dry plums, blackberry and oak. Full-bodied in the mouth, where the heightened alcohol brings out the ripe flavors. An effective, oxidative style with a ripe finish. Drinking window: 2021 - 2024"-VM
A blend that combines each of our estates diversity and their best varieties. The base is Cabernet Sauvignon, which provides structure, while Merlot delivers red fruit and vitality in mouth. Carmnre adds weight and softness, as well as spices that combine beautifully with Petit Verdots smooth, complex finish. And finally, Cabernet Franc presents elegance and persistence.
The best lots are harvested and blended. One third of the wine is aged for 12 months in 5000 L foudres, the rest in French oak barrels, 18 new.-Winemaker Notes
Primus is a leading brand in the Chilean premium segment and a preeminent example of Chilean quality capabilities. The name Primus is Latin and means the first or the first among its peers, and for good reason. The winery was founded more than 20 years ago by Agustin Hunneus. It was truly a pioneering brand as the first blend of the signature red grapes of Chile: Cabernet and Carmenere. Today, The Blend is still the standard bearer for Primus, and has been joined by two single varietal wines: Primus Cabernet Sauvignon and Primus Carmenere. Fruit is selected from the most renowned areas in Chile for red varieties: Apalta, a sub-region Colchagua, and Maipo. These are food wines, known for their balance, elegance and freshness. Aging in oak barrels and foudres gives elegance and finesse to the wines. All farming practices are organic.-Winery Notes
VeramonteView all from Veramonte
Veramonte came to life in the late 1990s in Casablanca, a valley unheard of at that time within the wine industry. Led by grand visionary and pioneer of Chilean wine, Agustín Huneeus was the first to invest in the area and introduce the world to Veramonte and Casablanca. Today, Veramonte is a part of González Byass, a family company founded in 1835 that has maintained their values for five generations.
