The 2020 Alvarinho "Granit" is an unoaked Alvarinho. It is very dry (less than a gram of residual sugar and 6.6 grams of total acidity) and comes in at 13% alcohol. Just gorgeous, this is focused on elegance, but it has some substance, too, and finishes with harmony as well as freshness. This, in many respects, seems like a replay of the beautiful 2019 (they were, alas, not here together). Pure, concentrated in fruit on the finish, yet always fresh and lifted, this is impossible to resist in its youth, but it should also age well, not that there is a lot of track record on this particular wine.~M.S.

Soalheiro, a pioneer in the creation of Alvarinho wine in Melgaço, is an international benchmark for the wines of this grape variety, blending perfectly into the distinctive Minho landscape surrounding it. In the nineteen seventies (1974), a passion for winemaking led João António Cerdeira, with the support of his father, António Esteves Ferreira, to plant the first Alvarinho vine and to create the first brand of Alvarinho in Melgaço in 1982, and one of the first Alvarinho brands in the sub-region of Monção and Melgaço.
Located in Melgaço (Portugal's northernmost point) it is protected by a range of mountains that create the conditions necessary for the best ripening of Alvarinho grapes. Here, the Alvarinho is special. The land is protected by a set of mountains that create the rain, temperature and hours of sunshine conditions necessary for the best ripening of the grapes. We hope that you also enjoy its vibrant and elegant expression, something that makes us passionate..
