" The 2009 Cistum was sourced from 120-year-old ungrafted pre-phylloxera vines aged for 6 months in new French oak. Cedar, pencil lead, Asian spices, incense, and black cherry liqueur aromas are some of the elements leading to a voluminous, focused, layered wine with enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years. This remarkable example of old-vine Garnacha will be at its best from 2014 to 2024."
" Beautiful Garnacha aromas of black and red berries, cedar, pencil lead, sandalwood, and light violets. On the palate the aromas carry on to layered flavors of cedar, pencil lead, Asian spices, incense, and black cherry liqueur. Rich, full-bodied, viscous and layered with supporting acid and tannin. " ~ Winery notes
Very good value at the price - To my palate this is an inoffensive but not particularly interesting wine. Tannins have softened as you would expect in a 2009 wine that has been competently made and there is some dark fruit. Quite pleasant in the mouth and would pair well with a wide range of foods. At this price it seems unreasonable to ask for anything more
It's a 2009 but still tastes like a very young wine. Can't figure it out. - I did try this wine and my conclusion is that it is not ready to drink. But I will keep trying.
