Item Description

85% Malbec, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon / Cafayate, Salta

The estates vines grow at around 2000 metres above sea level in desert-like conditions. The high altitude helps to produce intensely concentrated and richly-flavoured wines thanks to the intense UV rays and dry, arid conditions. Composed primarily of Malbec along with a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon, the grapes for this vibrant red are harvested by hand in the early morning to help preserve freshness and aromatics.

Once in the winery the fruit is fermented in stainless tanks and then aged in new and used French oak barrels for 12 months before bottling. The result is a luscious darkly fruited wine which is bursting with cassis, blackberry and black cherry accented with hints of licorice, woodsmoke and cigar box spice. Bold and robust, this full-bodied red is a great partner for red meats including a prime steak, juicy barbecued ribs or even charcuterie.

Drink now through 2028. No need to decant before serving.

San Pedro De Yacochuya

View all from San Pedro De Yacochuya
San Pedro De YacochuyaMichel Rolland was first brought to Argentina and Cafayate by Arnaldo Etchart in 1988. Seduced by the remarkable potential of an old Malbec vineyard 6,700 feet above sea level, Michel and Arnaldo created a partnership to make the wines of San Pedro de Yacochuya.

From the 60-year-old vines of Finca Yacochuya in Valles CalchaquĆes, the grapes are handpicked and the wines are aged in French oak barrels. Yacochuya wines were the first to be barrel-fermented in Argentina. These wines are the ultimate combination of the Finca Yacochuya vineyard, the Etchart family's grape growing knowledge in this unique high-altitude region of Cafayate, along with the passion and expertise from one of the world's pre-eminent winemakers, Michel Rolland.
