Yellow stone fruit and fragrant spring flower aromas lead the nose. Made with organically grown grapes, the tangy palate offers white grapefruit, apricot and tangerine drop candy alongside bright acidity.~KOK
Rina Ianca, meaning white sand, is a blend of Grillo and Viognier which marries the characteristics of a Sicilian and an International varietal. The grapes are harvested by hand only in the early hours of the morning in order to ensure freshness and preserve aromas. The grapes are harvested when an ideal balance between acidity and residual sugar levels has been reached.
Straw yellow color. The. nose opens with aromas of white flowers, citrus and tropical fruit and evolves in more complex exotic fruit, dried apricot, and vanilla notes. On the palate it is perfectly balanced between fruit flavors and a lively citrus acidity. Ideal with appetizers, or light dishes with fish, shell fish and shrimp.~Winery Notes
Santa Tresa PuratoView all from Santa Tresa Purato
Purato is a line of certified organic wines from Vittoria in southern SicilyThe vineyards and winery have undergone strenuous controls into to obtain organic certification from Bioagricert, whose certifications are recognized in the United States. Purato celebrates the regions unique micorclimate and extensive winemaking history. Lying close to the Mediterranean, Purato's vineyards benefit from cooling sea breezes. The estate's soil consists of a layer of light, red, sandy loam (terra rossa) resting on top of a limestone base, which helps retain vital water. In order to preserve this rich terroir, only natural techniques are used to assist cultivation. While the abundant wind and scarce rainfall naturally protect against pest, infestations are further prevented through limited copper and sulfur treatments and "sexual confusion" pheromone traps. In addition, only natural fertilizers are used to avoid introducing chemicals into the topsoil. Subterranean irrigation is utilized to prevent evaporation, thereby maximizing water efficiency. To further emphasize Purato's commitment to the stewardship of Sicily's land, Purato's packaging is entirely eco-friendly; labels are made using recycled paper and vegetable dyes, cartons are made from recycled paper and the bottles are 85% recycled glass.
