"The eponymous red 2015 Sedella was cropped from a warm and dry year; despite this, the wine is only 13.5% alcohol and has good freshness. It matured in used French oak barrels for 14 months. The Wine Advocate 93
"The eponymous red 2015 Sedella was cropped from a warm and dry year; despite this, the wine is only 13.5% alcohol and has good freshness. It matured in used French oak barrels for 14 months. For the first time, the wine reminded me of an old Colares, with some earthy and rusty aromas, character and rusticity. It really had the aromatic profile of an old red from Portugal (that I love!). There are notes of iron and licorice, and the palate had pungent flavors and fine-grained but slightly pointy tannins. I guess this one is going to age nicely and should behave better with food. Quite unique and characterful." ~ LG

Sedella Wines currently produces a single red wine from centenarian Rom and Grenache vines aged between 16 and 20 months in new French oak barrels. Wine with an outstanding deep blue color, high intensity, violet on the edges and dense and stained tears. The aromas are reminiscent of the natural environment, with notes of iodine, salt-pits and Mediterranean forests, fresh and fruity yielding very complex and elegant wines. In the mouth, sensations are soft, round, but fresh and a pleasant aftertaste. The label shows a view of the Axarquia region from our vineyard and has been designed by the designer Ana Varela. Each bottle of Sedella wine contains a lot of work, enthusiasm and, above all, much happiness.

This tiny production wine comes from the vineyard Las Viuelas de la Axarqua in Sierras de Mlaga Denominacin Origen. The soil is composed of a type of slate called Gorge. Very eroded, grey shale with low organic content; extremely loose and rocky, the water drains quickly from the surface to the root. The roots of the vines are forced to reach down, deep into the soil to reach moisture.

Old vines planted in 1940 of the native grape varieties Rom tinta, Garnacha tinta, Jan tinta and loose strains of other local varieties. Hand-harvested, fermented using native yeasts in small stainless steel tanks. Wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in french oak barrels and in cement and clay amphorae; aged 14 months in second-hand French oak (Tronais and Nevers).

"Based on a 93 from Wine Advocate, I was surprised to be so disappointed. Nice nose, but rough and somewhat short upon tasting."
