James Suckling 93
This is very melted and round with a linear line of acidity running through it at the same time. Medium to full body and fine tannins. Bright and focused.
Tasting Panel 92
Ripe, earthy nose; rich and dense with deep plum, soft vanilla, and oak; smooth and long.
Wine & Spirits 90
There’s black raspberry fruit to balance this wine’s brisk green edges, turning toward richer, creamier tones of chocolate and coffee with air. The wine feels cool and generous, a cabernet for duck roasted with cherries.
The 2016 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is plush and inviting, with an enticing array of brambly blackberry fruit along with raspberry sorbet notes alongside nuances of lifted violet, allspice, sweet cinnamon, clove, cedar and crushed bay leaves. On the palate, the dark berry fruits proliferate with blackberry, plum and cassis, but there are also savory elements showcasing light herbal notes and earth, giving this Cabernet a classic depth and elegance. Seamlessly integrated oak and refined tannins provide a smooth mouthfeel and add layers of complexity, all wrapping up with a lengthy textured finish. Incredibly approachable and pleasing upon release, this wine is sure to impress and pair well alongside many culinary treats.~Winemaker Notes

The Stags' Leap Estate
ON THE WATERSHED OF THE STAGS LEAP PALISADES, ONE OF CALIFORNIA'S EARLIEST WINE ESTATES...
On one of California's earliest wine estates, a unique terroir and ideal microclimate support a classical standard of viticulture, land use, and winemaking that is as relevant today as it was over a century ago.
An intimate valley within the greater Napa Valley, Stags' Leap is a place of natural beauty, storied buildings and gardens, a lively history, and a reputation for elegant wines showing finesse and intensity.
Winemaking is traditional here, focused on a pure expression of the land. We didn't invent winemaking; we just work hard at it. Everything is well-informed by experience and classic winemaking technique, but nothing is rote or formulaic. Decisions are made based on the fruit itself, and the conditions of each and every harvest. Our consistent quality of wines comes from this balancing act. Our wines are well made. They're delicious, showing finesse and integrity.
