"The 2013 Ember was seen well before release, so it is worth another look as it is a very nice value. It is a blend of 49% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot, and 4% Malbec, aged for 12 months in Hungarian oak (one-fifth each of new, second, third, fourth and fifth year oak). As it is a bargain price, this is pointed and surprisingly powerful. Then, it adds a slightly funky nose with a bit of rare beef on the end. It doesn't have a big concentration, but the structure is superb and it is a classic food wine. It should age pretty well, too."~MS

Suhru is one of more than fifty brands produced on Long Island. Unlike long established wine labels, Suhru is unhampered by tradition and winemaker Russel Hearn creates young, innovative and vibrant wines. Influenced by his international experience and two decades of winemaking on Long Island, Russel's ideas showcase the unique characteristics of New York grapes. At Suhru, we make wine from grapes chosen from select vineyards in regions where the vines and fruit grow best-Riesling from the Finger Lakes region and Gewurztraminer, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Pinot Grigio grown on the North Fork of Long Island. Applying the winemaker's artistry, Russel blends different grapes with results greater than the sum of its parts. Made with passion and finesse, the Suhru brand is an eclectic collection of wines.
