This blend of 52 Syrah, 31 Grenache, 11 Counoise and 6 Mourvdre is a complete success. Fresh aromas of carnations, purple flowers, crushed cranberries, plump berries and dried sage lead into a taut palate of red plums, red cherries and potpourri spice.-WE

The 2016 Patelin de Tablas will be released later this year, and it's really beginning to become expressive, bursting from the glass with aromas of blackberry, raspberries, cracked pepper and Provence herbs. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, supple and juicy, with a lovely core of fruit, youthfully chewy tannins and a nicely pure finish. Bottled under screwcap, fully 3,000 cases of this blend of 52 Syrah, 31 Grenache, 11 Counoise and 6 Mourvdre were produced.-RP
Tablas Creek is a pioneer of Californias Rhone movement. Founded in 1989, it is the culmination of a friendship between two of the international wine communitys leading families dating back to 1967: the Perrin family of Chteau de Beaucastel and the Haas family of Vineyard Brands. After a four-year search, the partners chose Paso Robles, California for its many similarities to the Southern Rhone and began the lengthy process of importing vine cuttings, building a grapevine nursery, and creating an estate vineyard from the ground up. Today, the vineyards at Tablas Creek are proudly Biodynamic and organic certified by Demeter USA.-Winery Notes

The Perrins of Chateau de Beaucastel and Robert Haas, their importer since 1970, founded Tablas Creek Vineyard in 1990. They chose their 1600-foot elevation site in West Paso Robles' Las Tablas because of its chalky clay soils and its climate similar to the southern Rhone Valley. They imported selected French cuttings of Mourvedre, Grenache, Syrah and Counoise and multiplied, grafted and planted their own vines, which they farm organically. This blended wine, in the image of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, is 100% estate-grown and bottled.
