"Talley Vineyards is an OG of the central Central Coast, a farming family who planted grapes in the Arroyo Grande Valley in 1982, proving to the world that these transverse valleys were remarkable terroirs for more than just brassicas and peppers. Over the years, their single-vineyard bottlings of pinot noir and chardonnay, centered around their two original plantings, Rincon and Rosemary’s, have captured subtle differences of exposure as well as details of the composition of their seabed soils, calcareous clays and shale loam. This wine includes contributions from both sites, (as well as from Stone Corral Vineyard, in the Edna Valley). It now bears the SLO Coast appellation moniker for the newly-approved AVA (established 2022), a name for the region the Talleys have called home for generations. Their 2021 is all raspberry bramble and dark cherry in this moment, a modest whole-cluster savor (just 10%) pushing the brambly vibe. The fruit is dark and pure, a comfortable, enveloping saturation of flavor, and a pairing for grilled quail."

"I loved the 2021 Pinot Noir Estate, a rounded, medium-bodied, complex effort that has assorted sweet cherry and raspberry fruit, some spicy, herbal nuances, ripe tannins, and a lengthy finish. It's not the most complex or layered Pinot Noir out there, but it sure is fun to drink."

Winemaker Notes
"Aromas of pomegranate, slate, violets unfold into flavors of black raspberry, orange zest, cranberry and sage with a bright and crunchy finish."

Tasting Notes
The 2021 vintage of Estate Pinot Noir is crimson purple in hue and expressive of the distinctive character of the Arroyo Grande Valley which produces structured Pinot Noir with strong mineral notes. Aromas of raspberry pie, cherry cola, and rhubarb are complemented by soft sandalwood undertones. The palate offers notes of juicy raspberry, plum, cranberry, and a hint of green tea. Enjoy this Pinot Noir with sweet and spicy duck or mushroom risotto with herbs.

Vineyard Notes
The 2021 growing season was one of the very best in the 30 year history of Talley Vineyards. After four years of severe drought, El Nio conditions brought the most rainfall to the region since 2011. After a cool and windy spring, temperatures throughout the season were moderate, especially during the critical summer months when veraison and ripening occurred. The absence of severe heat for any extended period during the harvest season meant that the grapes were harvested at a moderate pace at optimal ripeness. Yields in the vineyard were consistent with five year averages and the resulting wines reflect the concentration, balance and elegance that is the hallmark of the confluence of a perfect growing season and a wine growing approach committed to capturing all the potential of the San Luis Obispo Coast region.

About Talley Vineyards
The goal at Talley Vineyards is to produce estate grown chardonnay and pinot noir wines of uncompromising quality that best reflect the unique characteristics of each of the Talley family's five San Luis Obispo County vineyards. Complete control over all phases of winegrowing is the guiding principle: from the planting of vines ideally suited to each vineyard site, to viticulture and winemaking that emphasize long term sustainability, low yields and minimal processing, to the gentle bottling of the finished wine. All wines produced under the Talley Vineyards label are grown, produced and bottled by the Talley family.

Talley Vineyards is located in the Arroyo Grande Valley, on California's South Central Coast, eight miles east of the Pacific Ocean. Talley Vineyards produced its first wine in 1986 with the production of 450 cases.

The Talley family owns five unique vineyards comprising 190 acres in Southern San Luis Obispo County. The Rincon Vineyard, Rosemary's Vineyard and the Monte Sereno Vineyard are located in the Arroyo Grande Valley. Oliver's Vineyard and the Stone Corral Vineyard are located in the neighboring Edna Valley. The Talley family also owns the 40-acre Hazel Talley Vineyard in the Templeton Gap area of Paso Robles.
