"Taut and focused, wrapping fine tannins around a lean core of licorice, mineral and blackberry flavors. Comes together into a long and expressive finish, braced by ample acidity. Drink now through 2020. 5,000 cases made.–HS"

"(a 94/6 blend): Bright purple. Powerful blackberry and cherry-cola aromas are complicated by notes of pipe tobacco, licorice and olive. Rich, broad and deep but lively too, with potent blackberry preserve and floral pastille flavors braced by tangy acidity. Finishes broad ad lively, with no noticeable tannins and lingering sweetness."

" The Chook Shiraz Viognier is sourced from the premium grape growing region of McLaren Vale in South Australia. The seamless integration of Shiraz co-fermented with Viognier, generates a seductive nose of apricots, spice and ripe berries. The palate is smooth and full of rich flavor, perfect for a long lingering finish of delightfully soft Shiraz fruit, but not without the punch.

As the bigger sibling of Woop Woop, The Chook once again represents a collaboration between Ben Riggs the wine maker at Penny’s Hill, and Tony Parkinson, proprietor of Penny’s Hill. The Chook is sourced from McLaren Vale, known for it’s consistent, Mediterranean-type climate and Langhorne Creek which characteristically produces Shiraz that is spicy, flavorful and elegant.
