Item Description

"Thierry Richoux's Irancy's are nothing short of a revelation...this is a domaine with which all serious Burgundy lovers will want to acquaint themselves, and the wines come warmly recommended."~William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

"Veaupessiot is a single vineyard, situated in the middle of a good exposed hill which dominates the valley of Yonne River. It is an exceptional example of Irancy, soaring from the glass with aromas of cherries, smoky plums, blue flowers, soil tones, and black truffle. Medium-to full-bodied on the palate, it has a lovely core of ripe fruit and minerality, all supported by fine-grained, satiny tannins. Thierry Richoux's family has been growing grapes and producing wine in the picturesque village of Irancy since 1610. Over the years, they have accumulated a fairly sizable patchwork of vineyards in various sectors of the appellation, 20 HA in total. Tenth generation Richoux is a true master when it comes to his vineyard work, so much so that, along with his own estate vineyards, he also farms the Irancy vines for Vincent Dauvissat. He is also one of the only producers in the appellation who farms organically, a true challenge in this northerly and often inhospitable growing climate. He is driven by an unwavering commitment to always respect both the terroir and the vintage."~Distributor Notes
