"Juicy, with maple syrup–scented wild blackberry and currant flavors that are effusive and generous. Pepper,
rosemary and black tea notes lead to a firming finish. Drink now through 2028. 19,000 cases made"

"The name Woodcutter’s stems from former owner/winemaker David Powell’s several years spent working the Scottish Highlands as a lumberjack in the Torbreck forest. "This is the kind of red I liked to drink with a hearty meal after a hard day’s work in the woods" says Powell. He understood how to make a wine that's the perfect ‘knock off’ drink - unpretentious, eminently satisfying and priced to allow for regular indulgence. The fruit for the Woodcutter’s Shiraz is sourced from hand harvested and hand tended plots throughout the North Western Barossa Valley and fermentation takes place in a combination of cement, wooden and stainless steel vats for 6-7 days. It is then basket pressed to well seasoned hogsheads and French oak foudres for 12 months and bottled without fining or filtration."-Winery Notes

"Impenetrable inky black core with a dark purple black hue. Pronounced aromatics of aniseed, black cherries and dark plum with a smoky dried meat overlay and blackpepper end notes. Full bodied the palate boasts terrific richness along with a delicious savoury profile of black cherries and liquorice overlaid by dried meats, smoky vanillin oak and pepper. Very fine grained, slightly dryish tannins provide excellent structure. Long finish of black cherries, liquorice, smoked dried meats and pepper."-Tasting Notes

good but not great. - It has a deep robust flavor but lacks complexity. Their other wines have significantly more sophisticated depth but at a substantial expense.

A visit from an old friend - Loved Torbreck when I discovered it 7 or 8 years ago and then could not find in my area. Empire to the rescue!
