" Pale, green-tinged color. Exotic pineapple and coconut notes are in harmony with steelier citrus peel and white flower aromas. Pungent, minerally and intense, with superb stony cut to the flavors of pink grapefruit and pineapple. Finishes with a whiplash of citrus flavor that mounts subtly and really stains the palate. This one in particular showed an aroma of bouillon blanc, notes Pierre, but that quality may be fading now. Superb riesling."

Wine Spectator 92
" Peat smoke and forest floor notes accent the dried apricot, candied orange peel, sea salt and star fruit flavors, followed by a modest finish. This well-integrated, elegant wine is just beginning to show some age, but the firm acidity suggests many more years to come."

" This famous Riesling comes from the choicest slopes of Ribeauville overlooking the Trimbach winery. The exposure is south and southeast. The vines' high average age of some 30 years ensures low yields and concentrated fruit. The clay-limestone soil contains a high proportion of fossil-flecked muschel-kalk, which bangs out all that is best in the Riesling.
Cuvee Frederic Emile is made solely from very ripe grapes, picked selectively at the end of the harvest. Dry and firmly-structured, but very fruity, this multi-faceted wine owes its great depth of flavour to the combination of Riesling grapes with ideal soil. After a few years in bottle it reveals a fascinating mineral nuance. This long-lived Riesling bears the name of our great ancestor, Frederic Emile Trimbach. It is prized by connoisseurs for its breed and finesse." ~ Winery notes

Wow. - To me, this is the perfect expression of riesling. Levels of fruit and acidity are in perfect balance, and it has just entered its prime drinking years. It has an aroma of dried fruit and wild flowers, and tastes like heaven in a bottle with notes of citrus.
