"Full bodied and packed with fruit and mineral flavors, this is a pretty big, very smooth wine that soothes the palate and lingers on the finish. Rich pear, fig and stony notes make it interesting to sip." ~J.G.
This crisp, bracing wine blends modest fruit flavors with appealing savory, mineral notes that are subtle and fascinating. Its complexity, medium body and great acidity make a winning combination. Notes of apple, grapefruit, and melon.
At elevations ranging from 1,400 to 3,000 feet and located at the base of Mount Konocti, once an active volcano, the Red Hills AVA features rolling hills, red volcanic soils, and a lake effect breeze from Clear Lake, one of North Americas oldest natural lakes.
Our vineyards certified sustainably farmed using native cover crops and sheep to control the weeds between the rows. Ever vigilant, our watchful sheep dogs stand guard over the flock and vines, protecting them from harm. It is this same spirit that drives us in our obsession to craft wines that honor and respect the earth.

1000 head of sheep are used to maintain the vineyard. As the sheep are eating the grape leaves and the weeds underneath they are creating compost and fertilizing the vineyard all year long. The sheep dogs that keep watch over the flock is what gives Vigilance wines their names as they are ever-'vigilant' in protecting their herd.
