"This wine has aromas of pineapple, lemon and baked apple. It has flavors of pineapple, grapefruit, green apple, white flowers and a floral lift on the finish."

"The Yarden Mount Hermon White displays a refreshing mix of citrus, floral, papaya and melon characters. Bright and flavorful, this medium-bodied wine is a crowd-pleaser. We like nothing better than to drink Yarden Mount Hermon White while dining al fresco, enjoying the freshest catch-of-the-day, hot and smoky, just off the grill. Some have even been known to add a dash of crme de cassis for an enjoyable "Kir" to be sipped among friends.

The Yarden Mount Hermon White is made mostly from Sauvignon Blanc, with Chardonnay and Semillon blended in for added depth and complexity. A cold fermentation preserves the natural vibrancy of these varieties. All of the fruit comes from vineyards in the cool, high elevation, northern Golan Heights." ~Winery Notes

The Wine
The 2022 Mount Hermon White exhibits bright aromatic lime, tropical fruit, melon and floral notes. This medium-bodied blended wine is full of vitality and very drinkable.

Ready to drink now, the wine is best consumed within a couple of years of harvest. We enjoy pairing the wine with fish tacos, chicken satay, or potato and shallot frittata

The Vintage
While the winter leading up to the 2022 season started promisingly, with an unusually cold and wet December, total seasonal precipitation finished at only 82 of normal. The lack of late winter rain resulted in restrained vine growth and canopies nicely open to light and air penetration. After an average spring, July saw daily highs 2oC (3.6oF) warmer than usual. Happily, typical weather returned in August, and the absence of weather extremes led to beautiful, and faster than normal, ripening. Ending up as a relatively short eleven-week harvest, 2022 was yet another vintage of excellent quality.

The 2022 Mount Hermon White is a blend of white varietal grapes harvested from vineyards on the cool Golan Heights. Cold fermentation helps to maintain the natural vitality of its classic white varieties.

The Appellation

The Galilee (or Galil) is the most northern, and generally considered the best, appellation in Israel. The highest quality area within the appellation is the Golan Heights (or simply the Golan), the coldest region in Israel. The vineyards on this volcanic plateau rise from 400 meters (1,300 feet) above sea level to 1,200 meters (3,900 feet) and receive snowfall in the winter. Golan Heights Winery is located in the town of Katzrin in the central Golan.
About Yarden Wines
After planting vineyards in the Golan in 1976, the Golan Heights Winery was established in 1983 by four kibbutzim (collective communities) and four moshavim (cooperative communities). In 1984, the Winery released its first wine creating great excitement in Israel and abroad. Golan Heights Winery cultivates over 600 hectares (1500 acres) of vines across 28 vineyards which are divided into 430 vineyard blocks. Each block is harvested individually and fermented separately, to show the extreme care that goes into each wine made by Victor Schoenfeld, Head Winemaker since 1992. Golan Heights Winery is made up of four brands; Mount Hermon, Gilgal, Golan, and most famously, Yarden. Each brand is a unique study of Israeli terroir and distinctive winemaking philosophy. Combining state-of-the-art winegrowing technologies and traditional winemaking techniques, Golan Heights Winery has succeeded in producing award-winning wines that have firmly placed Israel on the international wine map.

Yarden is the premier label and flagship brand of Golan Heights Winery. Each year the finest grapes from the best vineyards are reserved for Yarden wines. Yarden is the Hebrew for Jordan River, which bisects the Golan Heights from the Galilee. The label features a symbol of ancient Israel: an oil lamp decorated with mosaic tile.
