Yellow Tail

View all from Yellow Tail
It all started in 1820, when the first Casellas planted some vines in the Italian countryside. Two things sprouted shortly thereafter: a cluster of grapes, and a family passion that would last 188 years and counting.
Fast forward to 1957. Filippo and Maria Casella were keeping the business alive in Italy, when they decided to pack up and move to Australia. However far away, they couldn't escape their wine roots. Filippo began selling grapes to local wineries. Then in 1969, he decided it was time for a new generation of Casellas to put their winemaking skills to use.
Following the blueprint of other Australian winemakers, Casella sourced his fruit from other growing areas throughout South Eastern Australia, creating wines with incredible freshness and character year after year. Still, almost a third of the grapes used for [yellow tail] are grown right in the Casella family's vineyards, nearly 540 acres in the Riverina region of Australia. In 1994, the Casellas built a new and improved winery, blending old world heritage with new world technology.
From humble beginnings, this family has come a long way. Today the company is run by Filippo's three sons--John, Joe and Marcello--while Filippo's grandchildren have become the sixth generation to join the family business. In 2000, John Casella joined forces with another family-run company, W.J. Deutsch & Sons, to bring the goodness of [yellow tail] to the United States.
Year after year, the Casella family continues to create quality wine that's fun, flavorful, and bursting with a personality all of its own.

"my favorite"

I don't always drink wine, but when I do.....

".....I drink this. Perfect for that warm summer day where you: Grab your lady, fill her glass with ice and prepare to deliver that slow pour as you look deeply into her eyes. The ice crackles as the blood-of-Christ rains steadily throughout and you whisper to yourself....."This better be some good shit for $4.35....."Don't worry my friends. It is."

Yellow Tail Sangria Rivals Homemade

"My wine of choice was White Merlot or White Zinfindal of a certain other brand. About 4 months ago my liquor store was out of both, and so I was going to buy a bottle of Yellow Tail Chardonnay (another wine that I enjoyed) when I noticed the Yellow Tail Sangria not far away. I am a big fan of homemade Sangria with all of its fresh fruit - just an amazingly refreshing drink. And I knew that there was no way that this bottled Sangria would taste anywhere near as good as "the real thing" but I bought the bottle anyway.BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!!! My first taste of this Sangria was so delicious that it surprised the heck out of me!!! And with each sip it just got better, and I literally made the comment that I found a new favorite wine while still drinking the first glass!!! And I have purchased this Sangria exclusively ever since - I truly cannot get enough of it!!!I am not a wine expert, but I know what I like in both brand and type and I am so glad I bought that first bottle of this Sangria. As the saying goes "You cannot judge a book by its cover", and I certainly greatly misjudged this Sangria when i first saw it in the store. The Sangria is not overly sweet at all, has just a hint of dryness (to my taste) and for me is great for any occasion. People who tend to gravitate to the more "blush" wines may be surprised since this is certainly not a blush, but the texture and taste is certainly not that of a deep red such as Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon.I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!"
